I needed to write a review on this product - as I had um'd and arr'd about buying it .....having read several of the reviews.
On the positive:
I found this TV to be of excellent quality in both sound and picture and as TVs go ...it looks good too. I removed the slight tinny sound by bringing in the bass sound option and did not experience any negative light problems from the backlight ......as I did not switch the backlight option on. My view / opinion, be selective on what's on offer in the spec....don't just grab everything in ....just because you can.....set it up to work for you :)
Set-up: It was so easy to set-up which I did with a brand new SkyHD box!!...and I'm not tecky!!!
All in all, a much better picture than the picture I have on my recently purchased Samsung smart TV of the same size.
On the negative ....and this is only slight, the 'new' batteries were dead on arrival - so hampered the setup for 5 mins until I realised it was the remote control batteries at fault and not the TV ....so needed to replace with some of my own..... and as a previous reviewer had said - the BUTTONS and writing on the remote control are sooooooooo small, come on Toshiba....sort it out!
Overall: A truly great product with fantastic picture and sound quality with the addition of a built in DVD player - which I must add is pure magic and so easy to use. You just push the DVD into the side slot and the mechanism pulls it in. To eject you just press the eject button below the DVD slot (on this model the DVD slot is to your rightside with TV facing you).
I have no hesitation in giving it 5 stars, just remember to have your glasses to hand if you don't have 20:20 vision for the remote.

Bought for my mum's fella for a small study room - they live in the Yorkshire Dales and are about to have the digital switchover. Set up in no time and despite the remote location, the set tuned in 100+ digital channels. As the guy is knocking on in years and likes what I would describe as a 'vivid' picture we went for the Dynamic picture mode. After set up we watched some of the Olympic road race cycling, which had great colour variation and motion to check the TV out. Pleased to say he is delighted with the picture and I think that for the money this is a great little TV. Had seen some adverse comment about sound - but in this small room and with the right settings (and with more than a little deafness on the part of the owner!) we got a good bass-rich sound set-up which was more than adequate. Despite this set being avaialble in a number of supermarkets off-the-shelf, Amazon still had the keenest price I could find.

Bought this for my bedroom and it's perfect. This model does fit on the wall unlike other Toshiba white TVs even with the DVD built in. Easy to set up and use and love the 'sleep' button so I can set it at 1/2 hour intervals and then it doesn't matter if I fall asleep in bed. The only minor negative is that the remote control is black not white to match (as my Panasonic does). Would definitely recommend.

For the price you get what you pay for, yes the sound can seem very basic but remember its only a portable tv, if you want last night at the proms blasting out then connect to external speakers.
So if you want a second tv for the bedroom, office or kitchen, then this is the one to buy, a trusted old name and a good old brand.

We've used the TV with DVDs and X-Box, the picture quality's excellent.
Installation was a piece of cake, "plug & play".
It's a good looking, sturdy piece of kit - we like it in white (and it was cheaper than black).
We've not used with TV programs yet, that wasn't the reason for buying, but we have no doubts that it'll perform equally well.
OK, the sound's not going to fill an arena but, with the addition of some basic, low cost speakers (including woofer), that transformed it and the sound quality is top-class with no distortion at max volume.
Adding speakers is not essential though, it's just that we had them "gathering dust".
As an extra TV, for a bedroom / kitchen / child's room, it fits the bill 100%.
If you're just looking for a compact TV / DVD combi then this has to be a serious contender.
The remote keys are a tad fiddly but so is the "keyboard" on most smart phones - need I say more ?
We've only had it a couple of weeks but already we so pleased that we decided on Toshiba, as a KNOWN & trusted brand, rather than one of those much cheaper "UN-knowns" with an attractive-sounding-pseudo-Nordic name !
