A very neat, space saving addition to my kitchen TV viewing, which gives me a very satisfactory choice of channels to keep me entertained whilst by myself and busy.
This item is a must for every one, I get all the channels plus more , than you get on the free view box, picture is great. I am just sorry I didn't know about it before,
easy installation, compact design, runs perfectly from existing "Sky " satellite dish, gives all the channels worth watching one would require, and provides a good backup in case of terrestial TX failure( not unknown)
In a few words, good value for money without the cost of other satellite providers
unlike the previous reviewer, i purchased a box that works! not sure why one faulty machine warrants a bad review, not every brand is perfect, we recently purchased a tv that had to be returned and the replacement works great!!! just like our goodmans freesat box. plugged it in, followed the on screen instructions and hey presto, we have every channel you could ever want!! great quality picture and sound, easy to understand and work (unlike our previous one) and it's that good, we are purchasing another for another room. again, one faulty product does not make the remaining ones bad!!

Hi, Ordered this to replace my sky box. I was apprehensive about the quality for the price. Took only 4 days to south of France. The picture quality is really really great for sd and looks super on my 47" tv. Much, much better pic than my sky box.
The remote is nice too, simple with everything you need and nice quality. The program guide is really nice n bold and simple to use. Setup was so, so, so simple. I just plugged it in, put in my postcode, it scanned for channels amazingly quickly and set it's self up in a couple of min's. Amazing kit for the money, you wont be disappointed. Regards, Mark

First of all we have to be clear that this is a Standard Definition (SD) box so you don't get BBC iPlayer, ITV Player, a network (Internet) connection nor a HDMI connection. For those you'll need an HD box! You also need a fitted and working satellite (Sky) dish or as in my case a communal Sky satellite system and the connecting cable.
In the box was a scart cable of reasonable length, remote control and batteries for the remote control. Following the "Start Here" leaflet I was watching Freesat channels within a few minutes of unpacking everything. Setting up was that simple! The remote control is intuitive and easy to use. Appreciated is the "Back" button for when in menus and the "Swap" button which alternates between the two most recently selected channels. Pressing the "Guide" button takes you to a Genre menu or the "CH List" button for the full channel list. A criticism here is that the channel list has a picture in picture of the current channel but the guide doesn't! The guide can be advanced up to 7 days by using the yellow and blue buttons for +24hrs or -24hrs. On channels which have text pressing the Text button brings up a menu on the right-hand side. Press text again to get rid of it.
A little tip: Press the menu button, scroll down to "Menu Transparency Settings" which is set by default to "Off" and change the setting perhaps to 75%.
An added advantage is that other free satellite channels not on Freesat can be added if you know the frequency (from their web sites) through the Menu.
In conclusion, if you don't want the bells and whistles of HD buy this box: You're not going to find any better!

It only does what you want, and at a very affordable price.
It doesn't connect to the internet, doesn't have umpteen additional connection possibilities, doesn't make the tea, it just provides SD tv and radio programmes from a satellite signal. So you don't have to pay for additional functionality that you probably didn't want.
If you have a fairly basic TV with a scart socket and don't want a recording facility, this box is all you need. As well as being cheap it is very small, an added bonus. Oh, and it's power usage is less than 1W in standby, has very clear start up instructions and was up and running in a few minutes.
Fully recommended.
