Well it's true that these blocks won't cure fundamental issues with your equipment nor will they turn a sow's ear into a silk purse - previous reviewer take note. Also the quality of mains supply and the level of noise from other appliances varies enormously from house to house. I used one on my stereo - all fairly high end gear - in my flat in London and the difference was immediately noticeable - put it this way I have heard less difference between a CD player costing £500 and one costing £3000 than the benefit this little box gave me. I won't try to describe how it sounded here because that is the road to certain failure and pretentiousness but I will say that anyone dissatisfied with the sound of their hi-fi that is considering upgrading, spend 25 quid on one of these first. Obviously you'll end up upgrading anyway eventually - after all it's what we (audiophiles) do isn't it? But it might mean you can wait just a little longer!

I have experienced first hand bad interference on the mains line at a relatives flat, which caused a lot of problems with his PC.

That being said I was still a little skeptical of what improvements could be made here, AV experience is always quite subjective anyway and I am dubious of gushing reviews in What Hi-Fi for a £150 kettle lead.

I was looking for a nice solid mains gang adapter anyway and this mains conditioner is great value and I have to say I'm a sucker for exposed components with that toroidal transformer on show.

Now how does it perform? Well visually can't say I've noticed any difference however visually I've never had any problems anyway.

Audio however is noticeably improved, especially with my Sub Woofer, in quiet moments it would pick up an annoying interference type noise however this has cleared up!

All in all it's a nice solid gang adapter with a mains conditioner for a great price.

I plan to buy another one for my Home Cinema room, once I get round to building it ;-)

One of the best filtered options, 12 Nov 2011

I bought this for a guitar pedal board and amp set up to give maximum surge protection in dodgy clubs with poor wiring for my expensive kit on the road. Not only does it have surge protection but it has one of the best midrange mains filters without spending a fortune which eliminates a lot of problems for musical production with hums, hisses and rf interference. The plug board is heavy duty, large with thick cable that survives some travel and impact abuse. The lack of any red light indicators on it helps reduce interference even more. It feels sturdy and has a very secure mount when plugging in and out. It's not fancy looking like some of the overpriced kit for AV set ups. I'd highly recommend this for music or higher end home AV set ups to protect your kit and give a very noticeable audio clean up. I've not tried it with visuals but I imagine itd perform well.

Excellent product. Rave reviews in What Hi-Fi and much cheaper from Amazon than anywhere else in the High Street. Picture quality has improved and sound is better defined with tighter and deeper bass. The fact that it's a surge protector is an added bonus. Can't fault it, especially at the price.

I was a touch sceptical about mains filtering, sure I've got the exceptional interconnects, the energy absorption hi-fi stands, the spikes, the sorbothane and granite and they all work superbly in tightening the sound. But the mains? Fairly constant and surely it can't affect the sound right?

Wrong.

I popped this in front of my system (Musical Fidelity A3.5 & Tri-Vista DAC 21, Audiolab 8000Q & 2 8000P's, Martin Logan Aeon-i electrostats and MJ Acoustics PRO100 sub all hooked up with Krystal Avenger interconnects and QED X-Tube400 speaker cable) and the result was delightful.

For the ludicrously low price this has to be worth having. Whether you are an audiophile like me or just have a decent hi-fi, for the money this is a superb purchase. The effect on the sound was an overall tightening of the image, vocals became crisper and very realistic and the detail was brought out even further than it had been.

I'm now considering spending a lot more on a mains filter if this is the result of spending £40. Superb.

It does what it says on the tin, at a reasonable price.
One small downside-if you are passing data over your power lines, with ethernet connections at each end, this product screens out the data.

Tacima mains conditioner, 5 April 2011

I must have a noisy mains signal as my subwoofer used to hum worse than a tramps jock strap when the amp was off, but this stopped all that, and sound in general is clearer and less tiresome on my Denon 2311 surround amp. I'd pay double the £25 asking price for that alone. I know some sad people used to stay up till 3am in the morning to get such a clean mains signal.

Also the picture on my Sony 40KDL-503u is definitely better when viewing sky or older programmes and smokey 80's music video's, can't say I've noticed the same difference on high def content though.

Just get one it's a no brainer, as even if you can't tell the difference the worst case scenario is you've bought a decent surge protected 6 way gang extension lead.

i bought this awhile ago to go with my hd tv and surround sound system. i tried my normal extension mains first to see if there was any difference so far so good got a good picture and the sound was good, then i tried the tacima and was pleasantly surprised, first off the picture on my plasma seemed more clear and less gassy (to be honest you wouldnt notice unless you stuck your face close to the screen)also the sound seemed more vibrant and lively. i was very pleased also my telly didnt get interferance when turning on other appliances around the house which happend sometimes on my old mains adapter.

so this comes highly recommended i thought at first a multi mains adapter couldnt make much difference but it does.

Ever sceptical about such "snake oils", I bought one as I'd read a great deal of high praise. It feels well built, looks really interesting and, more importantly, it actually did make a difference to the sound stage of my stereo stuff. I might need another soon.
